We are now looking for an Underwriter to join our global Underwriting Specialty function in Gard, in the Marine Builders Risk team in Oslo.

The Builders Risk team provides insurance covers for newbuild and conversion projects in shipyards.

You will join a team of experienced underwriters providing insurance solutions to a global portfolio of international companies. In this role, you will also participate in the marketing of our full range of insurance products.

Business travel will be required.

The tasks will include assessments of new prospects and projects, communication and relationship building with existing clients, commercial negotiations with brokers and building a sustainable client portfolio.

Key responsibilities:
• Review, negotiate and assess risks on behalf of Gard.
• Ensure that clients are insured in accordance with relevant underwriting guidelines.
• Provide high levels of service to clients and brokers.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and brokers.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of the portfolio.
• Share knowledge, information and experience across the Underwriting teams globally.

The person we are looking for:
• Has relevant experience from marine insurance or other commercial insurance fields, ideally from within underwriting.
• Has relevant technical, legal or economics education. If you are a recent graduate, we still encourage you to apply.
• Has an interest in learning new tasks, processes, and data systems.
• Has a strong cultural awareness and strong interpersonal skills.
• Has a structured and service minded approach to work
• Is a positive team player and able to contribute to a diverse team.
• Has a solution and result-oriented mindset.
• Has very good written and oral skills in English and Norwegian.
